Tag Detail – What the tag is tracking (e.g., "Clicked a Link," "Watched a Video").
Tag Group – The phase or segment of the customer’s journey the tag belongs to.
Tag Type – Defines whether the tag is a Button, History, or Status tag.

The best practice for naming tags is:

This structure keeps things clear and consistent, making it easy to filter and identify tags.

Ultimate Case Study: Start Automation (Tag Group = "Ultimate Case Study", Tag Detail = "Start Automation")
Quote to Close: Scheduled Calendly (Tag Group = "Quote to Close", Tag Detail = "Scheduled Calendly")
For clarity, you can shorten tag group names (e.g., "UCS" instead of "Ultimate Case Study") to keep names concise.
Tag Types and Categories
In Keap, there are three approaches to incorporating tag types into your naming system:
Omitting Tag Type – Rely on the tag name itself for clarity (easiest and cleanest approach).
Embedding Tag Type in the Name – Not recommended as it clutters tags (e.g., "Button - Start Automation").
Using Keap’s Tag Categories – The preferred approach, as it allows for proper organization.
Recommended Approach: Using Keap’s Tag Categories
Keap provides Tag Categories to group similar types of tags. By assigning tag types to categories, you ensure a clean, structured system. For example:
Button Tags → Categorized under "Button"
History Tags → Categorized under "History"
Status Tags → Categorized under "Status"
This method keeps tags easy to manage while avoiding redundancy in naming.
